Rhodesian Ridgebacks

...not your ordinary brown dog!

In 1986 Chapa came into our lives. Both his independent character and wonderful disposition have been repeated in each Ridgeback that has come after him.

Following a healthy dose of breed education we began to become successful in conformation handling, lure coursing and obedience competition. In 1991 the "Omega" kennel name (taken from an old family trade name) was established.  After years of living with  Rhodesian Ridgebacks, we have come to believe:

That Rhodesian Ridgebacks are wonderful family companions, but are not suitable for every household.

A fenced yard is important for a Ridgeback's safety as they are prone to the chase.

That a biologically appropriate raw diet can lead to optimum canine health.

That through operant conditioning, shaping a dog's behavior  with  a
clicker is most effective for training a Rhodesian Ridgeback.

That all of today's breeders have a responsibility to stay abreast of advances in science and technology particularly as they apply to vaccines, canine disease and
genetic research.

That Rhodesian Ridgeback breeders should support in any way possible the efforts of Rhodesian Ridgeback
Rescue
